•Dizeani, Okonjo-Iweala absent at FEC meeting
President Goodluck Jonathan has directed all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of government to submit their handover notes by April 20.
Jonathan gave the directive on Wednesday at the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting; the first to be held after he lost the 2015 presidential election to retired General Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Addressing State House journalists after the meeting, Information Minister Patricia Akwasiki said the president urged the MDAS to submit their handover notes to Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) by April 20.
The minister said the president also wanted everything requiring his approval to be sorted out by May 13.
According to the Akwasili, this is aimed at making the May 29 handover effective.
“It is for the MDAs to submit their handover notes to the SGF office who is compiling the total handover notes to the incoming administration. This will make it easier for the president to look at everything. We are in government till the day Buhari’s govt is inaugurated,” she said.
The minister said the incumbent administration would hold its valedictory FEC meeting on May 20 and a presidential dinner on May 28.
Our correspondent reports that the Ministers of Petroleum Resources and Finance, Dizeani Alison-Madueke and Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala respectively were absent at today’s FEC meeting.
